This is the option we used on our fist trip to Walt Disney World because we were on a pretty tight budget. Our plan was to go to a park in the morning, return to our room for lunch, then back to the park for the evening. This works great for some people, especially those with younger children, who may not do well being at a park all day. It is also a great way to get out of the heat during the hottest part of the day depending on when you are vacationing.
The downside to this is travel time. In the middle of the day there are not typically long waits for the Disney Transportation, regardless of whether it is a bus, boat, tram (to your car in the parking lot) or monorail you are taking. One thing to consider, however, is that if you are smack dab in the middle of a park it can take thirty minute to an hour (or longer) to get from where you are to your resort. Considering you have to do that twice, you could be looking at losing two or more hours of your day just going back to your room to eat and then returning to the park.
With all of this said, this option can be viable. There have been times where we have gone this route. Another great thing about going this route is you can go to your room, eat and then go enjoy your resort’s pool for a while before heading back to the park again to finish your day. All of the Walt Disney World Resorts have great pools, as do most of the hotels around the area.
